Mitchell Tousley, also known as Kafka Escobar, is an audio engineer, producer, and musician currently based between Glasgow, Scotland, and Salt Lake City, Utah. He grew up just north of New York City, where he first started playing guitar, regularly performing in bands, and exploring music production. In college, Mitchell began seriously recording and producing music for himself and his friends. He graduated from BYU in 2023 with a degree in commercial music and a minor in history. He now has over ten years of professional audio engineering and production experience, including music and sound for film, podcast production, session work, mixing and mastering, music production, and more. He’s known for working well with others, especially taking and applying feedback to help creatives achieve their vision and using his expertise to help them surpass their own expectations. Kafka Escobar offers services in mixing and mastering, music production, podcast sound design, post-audio for film, music composition, and more.
Mitchell has broad experience and a strong understanding of music, film, and media genres. His main instrument is the guitar, but he can also play bass, drums, and keys, and compose for a full band or orchestra. Passionate about his industry, Mitchell continues to research music of all kinds, both new and historic, to deepen his understanding and gain new insights for his work. He has a soft spot for ambient composition techniques, experimental music, post-rock, and alternative hip hop. His specialization in these niche areas brings unique flavors to every kind of musical project and helps artists stand out. Mitchell is an avid reader and is always studying history, politics, and art. His background knowledge allows him to understand and contribute meaningfully to any project he works on. He has worked with all kinds of artists in several industries, and Kafka Escobar is currently accepting new projects and is a safe space for people of all backgrounds and orientations to bring their art to life through music.
